Bishop Abel F. Aguilar was born April 27, 1951 in San Bernardino, CA to Fulgencio and Ruth Aguilar. From the young age of 16, when he was baptized, God’s call to preach the Gospel has been upon him. At the age of 18 he was ordained to the ministry as part of the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus Inc. He had the privilege of having Antonio Castaneda Nava anoint him with oil as he went through the line at the ordination service. Always knowing that he was called to be full time in the ministry, he relocated to the state of Oregon and became the District Youth President overseeing the states of Oregon and Washington. After one year of traveling and evangelizing he was elected the National Youth President at the General Convention in Bakersfield, CA. As the President of the youth, he inspired many young people to pursue the ministry and as a result many of those whom he inspired are currently pastors, evangelists and even Bishop supervisors.

In November of 1973 he married Cesiah Meza, the daughter of Bishop Francisco Meza. Over the next seven years Bishop Abel Aguilar and First Lady Aguilar would go through many changes and challenges. In the same year they were married they began pastoring their first church in San Bernardino, CA, which remains to this day. Their first son was born Jason Abel in November of 1974, their second son in May of 1976 and their only daughter in June of 1980. Bishop Aguilar would then relocate to San Jose, CA in 1980 to become the Principal of the Christian Academy at the First Apostolic Church in San Jose. He also served as an Assistant Pastor. In 1981 he assumed the pastorship of the Central Apostolic Church in downtown San Jose. He and First Lady Aguilar served nine years as pastors and saw the congregation grow from 25 in Sunday School to 350 in that span of time.

In 1989 they felt the call of God to relocate one final time to Southern California. Bishop Aguilar’s intention was to open up a new in the city of Irvine, CA., and for nine months he pastored a small mission work in Irvine. In 1989 Bishop Francisco Meza, who was the Pastor of the First Apostolic Church in Santa Ana, was hospitalized and could no longer pastor the church, Bishop Aguilar assumed the pastorship. He has served the last 17 years as pastor and has seen the growth of the church rise from 250 to over 600 in that span of time.

Bishop Aguilar’s ministry extends far beyond the borders of the United States. It was prophesied that his ministry would touch 17 nations of the world. That prophecy has been fulfilled with crusade trips to the Philippines, Ethiopia, Pakistan and more recently India, which is in the 10/40 window (the least evangelized part of the world). In those four countries alone Bishop Aguilar has seen more than 50,000 people receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost Speaking in other tongues (Acts 2), and thousands of miracles performed by the hands of men and only through the power of God! His new position on the General Board of the Apostolic Assembly as Secretary of National Missions will enable him to plant churches in areas of the United States where there are no organized districts. He also oversees four different regions which are under his supervision. He has accepted this new challenge with the same passion and fervency that enable him to touch so many lives in his youth.
